Albrecht Classen

Albrecht Classen is University Distinguished Professor of German Studies at the University of Arizona. He is the author of nearly fifty books, including The Medieval Chastity Belt. In 2004 he was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz am Band (Order of Merit), the highest award given to a civilian by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, in recognition of his contributions to the teaching and support of German culture, language, and literature. In 2008, the University of Arizona awarded him with the Henry and Phyllis Koffler Award, its highest award for research.
