What do you enjoy doing the most with your free time?
Taking my dogs to the dog park. Seeing all of the different breeds and colors and sizes of dogs interacting and having fun together makes me think there’s hope for the world. If only people could be so open minded and accepting! Plus the dogs are just cute when they play. And it gets me outside. I go crazy if I’m cooped up inside too long.
Besides writing, what other forms of art and creativity do you indulge in?
I took a cake decorating class and, though I never mastered the art of making roses, I’ve made some pretty cakes and cookies. I also make tie-dyed T-shirts. Very hippie, I know, but I did grow up in Austin (motto – Keep Austin Weird).
What was the worst job you’ve ever had?
While I was in college, I interned at the Texas Governor’s Office. I had great co-workers and enjoyed some of the tasks, but one of my jobs was answering the governor’s toll-free hotline. Eight hours a day listening to people b*tch about everything from taxes to the fact that the garbage men were late picking up their trash. It was enough to drive a person nuts!
If you won the lottery, what would you do with your newfound wealth?
Buy lots of land out in the country and build an animal rescue facility. I’m a big animal lover. And I’d love to have a peaceful place to get away to.
If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for?
More time! That’s the one thing that can’t be bought or made or even stolen. And I never seem to have enough of it!
