Irwin Primer

After four decades of teaching and research at Rutgers University, where he also served as chair of his department for seven years, Irwin Primer has continued to study the life, works and cultural moment of Bernard Mandeville (1670-1733). In addition to publishing texts by Mandeville and essays about him, he has also edited two early English translations of La Rochefoucauld’s Maximes, one of them by Aphra Behn.
