An Apology: June 2, 2014

I have been having severe back problems that may neceessitate surgery. SO many things I should be attending ti (such as these posts) have fallen by the wayside. In fact I can’t even fly to Scotland for my annual sojourn because I can’t sit in the plane for right hours. But...

Q & A

EIGHT QUESTIONS from JANE YOLEN

What’s your favorite book that wasn’t written or drawn by you?
Too many to write them all down, but among others: James Thurber's Thirteen Clocks, Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, T.H. White's The Once & Future King, Robin McKinley's Beauty, Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic,  Mike Mignola's Hell Boy.

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island, what one piece of media would you take with you?  If it isn’t your favorite book, explain how you came to this peculiar decision.
I'd want ALL of my favorite books, but would settle for three: Complete Works of Shakespeare, The Bible, and a book about how to stay alive on a desert island.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate, of course. Isn't it everybody's?

How are you planning to survive the zombie apocalypse?
Eat a lot of chocolate.

What’s your favorite word?
Traghairm. It’s an ancient Scottish word that means "to prophesy while wrapped in a bullock's skin behind a waterfall." Truly!

If you suddenly fell into a dimensional vortex and ended up in 1529, what profession would you adopt?
Storyteller.

Black or white?  Cats or dogs?  Apples or oranges?  Robots or vampires?
White, cats, apricots, dragons.

What’s the worst fortune cookie advice you ever got?  Did you take it?
Don't get married this month.  I got married and lived happily for 44 years until my beloved husband died.

End of one story, beginning of the next.
