Lawrence H. Officer

Lawrence H. Officer is Professor of Economics at University of Illinois at Chicago. He is the author or editor of 14 books; and the author of many articles in professional journals, as well as numerous book chapters, book reviews, encyclopedia contributions, and Internet essays. His most recent book is Two Centuries of Compensation for U.S. Production Workers in Manufacturing (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009). His academic specialties are monetary history and international economics. Professor Officer teaches Principles of Economics and Intermediate Economics to large classes. He is co-founder and Director of Research of MeasuringWorth.com. A resident of Glencoe, Illinois, Professor Officer enjoys science fiction literature, classic films, and bicycling with his spouse.
