Lynda Lee Kaid

Sarah Oates is Professor of Political Communication at the University of Glasgow. She has written and published extensively on the role of the media in creating or challenging democracy, particularly during elections in Russia. Her recent books include Television, Democracy and Elections in Russia (2006) and Introduction to Media and Politics (2008). She had been awarded several grants, including two in the New Security Challenges program of the British Economic and Social Research Council. She currently is involved in an interdisciplinary project to study better ways to design counter-terrorism communication for crowded places.

Lynda Lee Kaid is Professor of Telecommunication and a Research Foundation Professor at the University of Florida where she specializes in political communication. A three-time Fulbright Scholar, she has also done work on political television in several European, Asian, and Latin American countries.  She is the author/editor of more than 25 books, including The Encyclopedia of Political Communication, The Handbook of Political Communication Research, Videostyle in Presidential Campaigns, and Political Advertising in Western Democracies.  She has also written over 150 journal articles and book chapters on various aspects of political communication.  She has received over $ 2 million in external grant funds for her research efforts, including support from the U. S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Education, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Election Assistance Commission, and the National Science Foundation.    

Mike Berry is currently a lecturer in Media and Communication at the University of Nottingham. His research interests focus around the issue of how journalism impacts on public understanding of social, political and economic issues. Previous books include Bad News from Israel and Israel-Palestine: Competing Histories. He is currently working on research looking at the impact of financial journalism on public understanding of the banking crisis in Britain.
