About the Author

Reginald Marsh (1898-1954) was a social realist painter best known for his crowded New York City scenes. He was also one of The New Yorker's first cartoonists and created murals for several federal buildings. Today, Marsh's work is on display at the Whitney Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among others.
