Renee Reichert is the recipient of the Society of Illustrators' Certificate of Merit, among other awards. This is her first picture book. She lives in Centerport, New York, with her family and her 18-year-old orange cat, Theodore, who was the inspiration for the cat in this book.

What book (or event, or person) made the greatest impression on you as a child?
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.

Who in the world (alive or dead) would you most like to meet?  
Georgia O'Keeffe.
 
What would you ask or say to them?
I would ask her how she was able to look at everyday things, strip away everything that she had been taught, and approach them from a totally personal perspective.

Lost in space . . . What three books would you take with you on a journey to another world?
Cat, You Better Come Home, by Garrison Keillor, paintings by Steve Johnson & Lou Francher, The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien, and Night by Elie Wiesel.
