Ron Baxter

RON BAXTER graduated from the London School of Economics in 1960. After a period with the International Nickel Co. and Hoover Ltd. , he was an economic advisor to the Electricity Council and subsequently to the National Ports Council, a government body responsible for advising the UK Department of Transport on the development of the UK ports and harbours industry. Ron was subsequently promoted to Chief Economist and then to Director of Economics and Statistics.In the 1980s, he set up his own Economic Consultancy, Baxter Eadie Ltd, offering specialist advice on the development of ports and harbours and shipping trends world wide for such clients as the World Bank and the European Commission as well as more general advice to private clients.  He is the author of Ports and Inland Waterways, co-author of Readings in Economics and co-author, with Graham Bannock, of the Penguin Dictionary of Economics
