Simon Richter

Simon Richter is Professor of German Literature and Cinema at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is the author of Laocoon's Body and the Aesthetics of Pain (1992) and Missing the Breast: Gender, Fantasy and the Body in the German Enlightenment (2006). He co-edited Unwrapping Goethe's Weimar: Essays in Cultural Studies and Local Knowledge (2000) and edited The Literature of Weimar Classicism (2005). He is past president of the Goethe Society of North America and past editor of The Goethe Yearbook.
