STEVE JEFFERYS is Professor of European Employment Studies and Director of London Metropolitan University's Working Lives Research Institute, UK. He is the author of Management, Work and Welfare in Western Europe: An Historical and Contemporary Analysis (with Mick Carpenter), and of Liberté, Egalité and Fraternité at Work: Changing French Employment Relations and Management.
