Suroopa Mukherjee

Suroopa Mukherjee teaches literature at Delhi University. In 2002, her book Bhopal Gas Tragedy, a book for young people was published, and since then she has been involved with the social movement. She has written widely on various aspects of the tragedy. In 2003, she was a founding member and staff advisor of the student group We for Bhopal, Delhi University that was involved in bringing out a Report and widely acclaimed video film Closer to Reality to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the disaster. From 2005 to 2008, she was a Fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, New Delhi, doing full time research on the women survivors of Bhopal. This book draws on her research findings. She writes fiction in her spare time.
