School Library Association Information Book Award
All of us teachers and librarians get to think 'Oh no! Not another!' when faced with yet one more jokey kids book of poo / bum / pee / toilets. BUT (with one T) this is different, it looks like it's going to be humour but it is so packed with facts: an amazing breadth and depth of facts and all so individually designed and dense with eye-catching illustrations. It is totally fascinating. The detail in the book is impeccable, at the end is a glossary helpfully headed 'Dirty Words'. Human waste may be the subject and human it is but this book clearly shows the many ingenious ways in which it is definitely not wasted. The book is . . . a brilliantly inviting work of accessible science, biology, geography and history. -chair of judges
Platts oversize book, informative and amusing in equal parts, offers so much information about waste that readers will be up to their ears in it.
