Ken Scholes is an American fantasy writer, born January 13, 1968. A prolific short fiction author, his stories have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies including Realms of Fantasy, Polyphony 6, and Weird Tales. In 2005 his story “Into the Blank Where Life” won the Writers of the Future contest. Fairwood Press published his first collection of stories, Long Walks, Last Flights, and Other Strange Journeys, and his first novel, Lamentation, is book one of a five book series called The Psalms of Isaak. Ken currently lives in Gresham, Oregon, with his amazing wonder-wife Jen, two cats, five guitars, and more books than you’d ever want to help him move. Jay Lake is an American science fiction writer, born June 6, 1964. The son of an American diplomat, he was raised in a variety of countries overseas, leaving him with an abiding interest in exotic settings and cultural complexity. One of the most prolific new writers of the decade, Lake won 2004’s John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer. His novels include Mainspring (2007), Escapement (2008), and, forthcoming in 2009, Green. The world of Green is also the setting for his Tor.com story “A Water Matter.”
