Island 731

Jeremy Robinson

Thomas Dunne Books

“Robinson puts his distinctive mark on Michael Crichton territory with this terrifying present-day riff on The Island of Dr. Moreau… One of the best Jurassic Park successors.” –Publishers Weekly, starred review

Mark Hawkins, former park ranger and expert tracker, is out of his element, working on board the Magellan, a research vessel studying the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. But his work is interrupted when, surrounded by thirty miles of refuse,  the ship and its high tech systems are plagued by a series of strange malfunctions and the crew is battered by a raging storm.

When the storm fades and the sun rises, the beaten crew awakens to find themselves anchored in the protective cove of a tropical island...and no one knows how they got there. Even worse, the ship has been sabotaged, two crewman are dead and a third is missing. Hawkins spots signs of the missing man on shore and leads a small team to bring him back. But they quickly discover evidence of a brutal history left behind by the Island’s former occupants: Unit 731, Japan’s ruthless World War II human experimentation program. Mass graves and military fortifications dot the island, along with a decades old laboratory housing the remains of hideous experiments.

As crew members start to disappear, Hawkins realizes that they are not alone. In fact, they were brought to this strange and horrible island. The crew is taken one-by-one and while Hawkins fights to save his friends, he learns the horrible truth: Island 731 was never decommissioned and the person taking his crewmates may not be a person at all—not anymore.

At a run, Hawkins leapt up onto the port rail and launched himself over the side. But he wasn’t on the main deck, which was just eight feet above the waterline. He was on the second deck, twenty-five feet up and six feet in from the main deck’s rail. As he

Praise for Island 731

Praise for Island 731:

“Robinson puts his distinctive mark on Michael Crichton territory with this terrifying present-day riff on The Island of Dr. Moreau… One of the best Jurassic Park successors.” –Publishers Weekly, starred review

"[Island 731's] premise is reminiscent of H.G. Wells’ The Island of Dr. Moreau, but the author adds a World War II back story...vivisection, genetic engineering, Black Ops, animal husbandry and mayhem. This is the stuff that comic books, video games and successful genre franchises are made of." -- Kirkus

“Take a traditional haunted-house tale and throw in a little Island of Dr. Moreau and a touch of Clash of the Titans, and you wind up with this scary and grotesque novel. Robinson, a skilled blender of the thriller and horror genres, has another winner on his hands.” –Booklist

"A book full of adventure and suspense that shows ‘science’ in a whole new horrific light. This is one creepy tale that will keep you up all night! And it is so well written you will think twice before taking a vacation to any so-called ‘Island Paradise!’" -- Suspense Magazine

“Compellingly written… Gripping, propelled by expertly controlled pacing and lively characters…. Robinson’s punchy prose style will appeal to fans of Matthew Reilly’s fast-paced, bigger-than-life thrillers, but this is in no way a knockoff. Absolutely. Fast, furious unabashed fun? You bet." --Publishers Weekly

"Robinson's books have the necessary action and engaging characters to make the reader frantically turn the pages, but Threshold elevates Robinson to the highest tier of over-the-top action authors, like Matthew Reilly and James Rollins. The next Chess Team adventure cannot come fast enough." --Booklist, starred review

“If you thought Pulse and Instinct were fun, just hold on tight my fellow thriller lovers. Jeremy Robinson pulls out all the stops in Threshold making this the most electrifying installment in the series so far. Robinson somehow takes the Tower of Babel, killer statues, giant lizards and insects, Stonehenge, and medieval lore and mixes it all together in this crazy, relentless story that is simply impossible to put down…. I have a blast every time I pick up a Jeremy Robinson novel and Threshold is no exception. I love authors who are dedicated to continually bringing fresh and original content to their fans, and Robinson continues to find ways to do this. If you are longing for a great thriller writer to follow and are tired of waiting a year or more between novels, then give Jeremy Robinson a chance. He’s the perfect combination of quality and frequency in a market that is often lacking both.” –FictionAddict.com

"THRESHOLD is absolutely grippin. A truly unique story mixed in with creatures and legendary figures of mythology, technology and more fast-paced action than a Jerry Bruckheimer movie. If you want fast-paced: you got it. If you want action: you got it. If you want mystery: you got it, and if you want intrigue, well, you get the idea. In short, I $@#!$% loved this one."

Praise for Instinct:

Pulse was a video game in print form, and [Instinct] is a tribute to James Cameron’s film Aliens.
