Murder In Hollywood

Author's Note
THE STORY THAT FOLLOWS BROKE ON FRIDAY NIGHT, May 4, 2001, and continues to unfold as I write these words. Six weeks have passed since actor Robert Blake's wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, was murdered in Hollywood, California. The teams of detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department are still trying to figure out who killed her. This book makes no assumptions or presumptions regarding who Bonny's murderer might be--I simply do not know, and the LAPD has released few details. What I have attempted to do here is to present the facts of the case as they are known and as they have been presented to the public in various media formats--newspapers, magazines, tabloids, television and radio news and entertainment programs, and so forth. I have also refrained from making any judgments about Bonny's chosen lifestyle and her relationship with Blake, having decided that it is best that the reader make up his or her own mind after reading what is known. At this time there is no ending, at least not in the traditional sense of the word, because of all of the loose ends that still need to be tied up. This book marks the first time in the twenty years that I have been writing true crime that I have written about a case that has not reached a satisfying conclusion. But, if I may be so bold as to borrow a phrase, the truth is out there!However, whether we ever find out just what the truth is remains to be seen.
The dialogue that appears herein is based on statements that were made in the news media as well as from my own interviews with certain individuals.
