This unique book presents the Earth’s geographical history as a visual narrative. Each doublepage artwork gives a snapshot from a key time period, plus a short piece of descriptive text to place the scene in context, both visually and historically. The text is short, light in tone and unobtrusive, allowing the reader to absorb the visual information while learning the key facts at a glance. A reference section at the back of the book (6 pages) summarizes all of the scientific information, in the form of a timeline, while the artwork spreads focus on telling this amazing story. Praise for Earth: The Life of Our Planet

NSTA Recommends
The approximately 5 billion years of Earth's history are represented in an understandable format that students can begin to grasp. They can see that large changes have been taking place over a long period of time. . . . The illustrations are bright and engaging. In the library or in the classroom, this book would be a great resource for starting the study of Earth's history.

Publishers Weekly
Succinct descriptions convey the mechanisms behind Earth's transformations and biological evolution, letting the art take center stage. Garlick's dramatic illustrations of galaxies, sea creatures slithering to land, and early humans struggling to survive in a frozen landscape combine naturalism with a dreamlike quality that befits the awe-inspiring subject matter.

Booklist
[T]his highly visual book introduces the formation and evolution of Earth. . . . dramatic digital artwork, featuring such eye-catching scenes as a comet collision, giant dragonflies, and brightly colored dinosaurs, as well as a short description.
