Cliff St. James returns to a Post-Katrina New Orleans to take on another case in Ed Kovac's Good Junk, this wonderful action-packed follow-up to Storm Damage

While wrestling with guilt over having accidentally killed a mixed martial arts opponent in a sparring session, private detective Cliff St. James returns to New Orleans and finds himself assisting the police in an investigation of the murder of a U.S. government “black projects” engineer.  St. James quickly uncovers “The Buyers Club,” a murky network of seedy arms dealers and foreign intelligence agents purchasing state-of-the-art weaponry and high technology, perhaps abetted by elements of the U.S. government.  As members of the Buyers Club start turning up dead, St. James fights for his life and sanity as he struggles to solve the murders and undermine a treacherous espionage conspiracy.

CHAPTER ONE

Funny, that a concerned friend would ask me to come and look at a couple of dead bodies in an effort to cheer me up. But unlike my dead mixed-martial-arts opponent, the two dead men here in a grubby parking lot surrounded by CSI techs and crime-scene tape

Praise for Good Junk

Praise for Good Junk:                                                                                                          "Kovacs (Storm Damage, 2011) maintains a fast pace, and his descriptions of a steamy, seamy, badly managed city that is failing to recover from Katrina are jolting and plausible."    -- Booklist

"With so many twists and turns, even the most devoted noir fan may wish they had a map. But it's well worth trying to find the way." --Kirkus Reviews

"Outstanding...powerful prose that evokes a city still struggling to recover its infrastructure and identity elevates this well beyond most other contemporary PI novels." -- Publisher's Weekly, starred review

Praise for Storm Damage:
"Fast-paced, gritty . . . [Kovacs's] noir take on the thriller will hook readers."
Associated Press

"Cliff takes plenty of knocks, but proves as resilient as New Orleans in this action-filled crime novel." —Publishers Weekly

"Powerful as a Category Five hurricane." —Gayle Lynds

"Hard-edge.  Frenetic. . . . Ed Kovacs is a vivid addition to the thriller genre." —Steve Berry

"Ed Kovacs comes out of the gate with a bang. . . . Highly recommended."  —Jonathan Maberry
