"WALTZ WITH BASHIR" Receives Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film

Israel’s “Waltz with Bashir” won the Golden Globe for best foreign-language film on the evening of January 11, 2008. In his brief acceptance speech, director Ari Folman dedicated his Golden Globe to the eight babies (including three of his own) born to the film’s production staff during the four years it took to complete the picture. “I hope that when they grow up, these babies will watch this film together and will see it as an ancient video game that has nothing to do with reality,“ Folman said.

The graphic novel adapatation of "Waltz with Bashir" from Metropolitan Books will be out February 2009.

Metropolitan Books, an imprint of Macmillan, will publish a full-color graphic novel adaptation of Israeli director Ari Folman’s much acclaimed animated documentary, Waltz with Bashir, in February. Waltz with Bashir seems to pick up a new award with every passing week. The film was named Best Movie at the Israeli Academy Awards; Best Picture by the National Society of Film Critics; and, over the weekend, was awarded a Golden Globe as the Best Foreign Language Film of the year. Metropolitan Books plans a 17,000-copy first printing for Waltz with Bashir: A Lebanon War Story.
