Hispanic Texts

Series blurb:
This series comprises critical editions of mainstream Spanish-language literary texts prepared by recognized experts. This series is the answer to any advanced study of Spanish literature. Each edition includes a substantial introduction in English that incorporates new research findings. The Spanish-English vocabulary, extensive notes, select bibliography, time lines and sample essay questions in English make the series unique. The quality of the commentary provided is accessible to a wide range of students and readers. In particular, college, university students and staff will find the editions bring added value to the literary texts by stimulating further interest and discussion.

Editor Bio:
Professor of Hispanic and Latin American Studies and former Head of the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies, University of Nottingham. Former President of the Association of Hispanists of Great Britain and Ireland.

Sampling of Rhetorical and Metrical Term Explanations Provided in Poetry Texts:
Anacoluthos: Ending a sentence with a different grammatical structure from that with which it began.
Anaphora: The repetition of the same word at the beginning of a sequence of sentences or verses.
Caesura: Break or pause in a line of poetry.
Epanalepsis: The repetition of the same word at the beginning and end of a clause, a line or a sentence.
Paronomasia: The association of words as a consequence of their sound rather than their sense.
Zeugma: The use of a single word, usually a verb, to govern several congruent words or clauses (see also Syllepsis).
