Signs of Race

Series Editors: Gary Taylor and Arthur L. Little, Jr.

This series examines the complex relationships between race, ethnicity, and culture in the English-speaking world from the early modern period until the postcolonial present, when it has become the dominant language of an increasingly globalized culture. Every volume in the series approaches race from a global, interdisciplinary, intercultural perspective. Each volume in the series focuses on one aspect of the cross-cultural performance of race, exploring the ways in which race remains stubbornly local, personal, and present.

GARY TAYLOR is George Matthew Edgar Professor and the Founding Director of History of Text Technologies program at Florida State University. He was the General Editor of the Oxford editions of Shakespeare’s Complete Works (1986, 2005) and of Thomas Middleton’s Collected Works (2007), and the editor for the Palgrave series History of Text Technologies. His books include Buying Whiteness, Reinventing Shakespeare, Cultural Selection, and Castration.

ARTHUR L. LITTLE, JR. is Associate Professor, Department of English and director of LGBTS at UCLA, where he also holds affiliations in Women Studies and African American Studies.  He is the author of Shakespeare Jungle Fever:  National-Imperial Re-Visions of Race, Rape, and Sacrifice (Stanford 2000) and is currently working on a multi-disciplinary and multicultural study of Hamlet.
