"Transnational history is a term used since the late 1980s to describe the historical analysis of concepts, movements, technologies, and phenomena that transcend the boundaries of nation-states. Sometimes referred to as world history, international history, or global history, this approach is described by editors Iriye (Harvard) and Saunier (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) as concerning "what moves between and across different polities and societies."
