The Hill. Where? When?

Baby was born and, surprise! She was a little girl. There was great rejoicing in the hill about that, because girls don’t happen very often. Quean Barbie was elated, enchanted: to have produced a wonderful baby girl made her feel very grand. The Uncles were all very happy, too, especially Uncle Ratlin, who was the cleverest person living in the hill.

I should say that giving ★★★★★ is not strictly for this book but for the completion of the series. The book is certainly above average of the series though.

The series, as a whole, is not a masterpiece like 'Fundation' or 'Hyperion' ones. I find it suffers from a 'shallowness' on how immort ...more

This conclusion to Baker's The Company series really deserves a more substantive review than I am going to give it right now. I will try to come back and do it better justice.

With that said, I loved it. It's the only one in the series that I gave five stars (I give very few books 5 stars ...more

The series is a wonderfully realized, but frightening, future that starts back at the dawn of time.

This final book is a wonderful end to the series. A little depressing how quickly after the present that humans decline into a safety and pc obsessed society (that didn't read anymore!) ...more
