Interesting thesis in this biography of William McKinley by Kevin Phillips. The thesis is that McKinley was an underrated President both in terms of his effectiveness and in his progressivism. At just under 200 pages this is really a great read because it is very informative yet not thin on details. I was reminded of how prominent a role in national politics Ohio has played in our country. I also found it interesting to be reminded how political parties evolve over time -- the Republ ...more
