ALAN PHILPS is an experienced foreign correspondent who has worked for Reuters and The Daily Telegraph, UK. He first broke the story about the appalling conditions in the Russian mental asylum where an abused but resiliant child, Vanya, was being held. Philps's article led to the closing of the children's wing. He later coauthored The Boy from Baby House 10 with Vanya—by that time adopted and living in the U.S. as John Lahutsky. Philps lives in London with his wife Sarah.
