Perhaps you’ve picked up this book out of curiosity. More and more people seem to be exploring different ways to release stress, get relaxed, silence pain, and feel better. “Maybe there is something to this stuff,” you’re thinking.
Or perhaps you’ve picked up this book because you are experiencing emotional or physical pain. The stress is weighing more heavily than it has before. You don’t remember the last time you truly felt at ease, aggravated by racing, anxious thoughts or being on high alert. Or you have annoying physical symptoms that don’t seem to go away no matter what you’ve tried. You suspect you’re not digesting your food properly. Or you get every cold or flu that comes along. “There has to be a better way,” you’re thinking. “Maybe this will help.”

I’d like to welcome you to “new” ways of healing, many of which are actually ancient ways of healing. Most have just gotten lost in modern life and are now being revived for a new audience. Some have used ancient elements, like energy meridians (or pathways), to form new practices with a modern bent.
In this guide you will learn what energy is, which widely known modalities are available, and how you can get your energy working for you. I’ve included tips on being both safe and effective along with ways to get your energy moving in the correct direction. I’ve been on a perpetual search for as long as I can remember. There was a small voice inside me that told me I could live a life without constant fear and finally be happy. In the mid-’90s, I began working as a counselor in a social service agency, helping people in the traditional ways: listening, providing resources, educating, making opportunities, and fulfilling immediate needs. Outside of my traditional 9-to-5, I began studying hypnotherapy. I noticed that my clients often seemed stuck in unhealthy mental loops, which negatively affected how they saw themselves. I believed that life could be different for them, but most of the time, they just could not believe that themselves. Studying the subconscious mind gave me answers for how these loops were created. Then my hypnotherapy teacher introduced me to EFT as we tapped on my romantic woes. We talked, I wept, and we tapped about it all. It was only a couple years later that I realized that the pattern had been healed. I knew I had to study this weird tapping thing! So, sixteen years ago I began doing just that, taking live classes and studying every article, video, and interview I could find. I just devoured it all. Here was what I had been looking for. The answer to my overwhelming feelings of fear. The answer to releasing all the emotional baggage I had been dragging around. I learned my sensitivity made me able to feel energy shifts. This aspect of my personality that I blamed for my pain was actually a gift, and one that lended itself well to this work. EFT opened a new world of other energy principles and practices to me. When I wasn’t working, I was studying and practicing, until that became my work. For ten years now, I have helped my clients heal using EFT and other energy-shifting modalities. From neutralizing a bad memory to ending regular panic attacks to releasing life-limiting patterns, I have the best career in the world. I get to facilitate “miracles” for a living. Because when you know how to change your energy, your entire world changes, from the inside out. And those changes can seem miraculous, although not rare or seemingly random as miracles are often thought of. I get to speak to and teach thousands of people about some of the very principles and practices I’m now sharing in this book. I wake up every day excited to share what I know.
This book is filled with practical, easy, step-by-step processes to get you working with your own energy fast. I encourage you to try everything and see how you feel. Then continue working with what works well for you.
Let this guide get you into deeper connection with your own energy, emotions, and intuition. Some profound changes can come from learning to listen to what your pain is trying to tell you. Then allow that connection to be your companion as you practice. Always work with and not against your body, so don’t do anything that feels painful. When learning any healing modalities, use good judgment and common sense. It’s natural to want to dive right in and start transforming already! But there are many times a gentle approach, like learning and practicing a bit daily, reaps greater benefits. And please know that working with a qualified healing professional is always an option and sometimes it is the best one. I’ve included a chapter on when to seek outside help along with tips for finding the ideal practitioner for you.
