The Spellwright Trilogy

Nicodemus Weal is an aspiring wizard who works magic via written words. He struggles with his spell-casting, however, because he is cacographic—when he was very young a curse was placed upon him that causes him to misspell his spells. Even a small misspelling can have dangerous results, and Nicodemus’ disability could prove catastrophic. To add to Nicodemus’ struggles, he was thought to be the Halcyon, a prophesied savior who would prevent apocalyptic event called the Disjunction, there are those who fear that instead, he will actually be the cause of the Disjunction. Nicodemus has to contend with murder accusations, demonic plots and other obstacles in his quest to overcome his disability and discover his true destiny.

He doesn’t realize it at first, but he is part of a much larger story, one which will change the fate of his world. He is but one of several key players in an enormous, long-term conspiracy to change the world by magical means. Others who he encounters may be helpful to his goal of preventing an ancient demon from reshaping the world in a way that is toxic to human life. But they may not be what they seem, and may in fact be pawns of the demonic conspiracy.
