Håkan Thörn

HÅKAN THÖRN is Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, Göteborg University, Sweden. He has mainly been working on issues related to globalization and social movements, and he has written and co-edited several books on these topics, most recently Anti-Apartheid and the Emergence of a Global Civil Society (2006), and No Name Fever: AIDS in the Age of Globalization (2005, co-edited with Maj-Lis Follér). He was the co-curator of an exhibition on HIV/AIDS and globalization, produced by the Museum of World Culture (inaugurated in December 2004), Göteborg and is currently involved in a research project titled 'Aid and AIDS Governance: Global Influences on Local Strategies in the Context of South African Civil Society'.
