John A. Arthur

Dr. John A. Arthur is Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Minnesota. He received his doctorate from Pennsylvania State University. Amongst his research interests are international migration, the African diaspora, race and ethnic relations, and transnational criminology. He is author of over two dozen peer reviewed articles published in national and international journals. His published books include, The African Diaspora in the United States and Europe: The Ghanaian Experience; The New African Diaspora in North America (ed.); and Invisible Sojourners: African Immigrant Diaspora in the United States. He was former Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and Director of the UMD Study Abroad Program in Birmingham, England.
