Palgrave Studies in Oral History

 Oral History Series Logo

Established in 2001, Palgrave’s Studies in Oral History series, edited by Linda Shopes and Bruce M. Stave, publishes work deeply grounded in oral history interviews, ranging from single autobiographical accounts to edited and contextualized interviews on a given subject to more interpretive and theoretical studies.  Series books are aimed at diverse communities of readers, including students and scholars, activists, and the reading public, as well as oral historians.  Authors are encouraged to approach oral history from a variety of disciplines and practices; and submissions are welcome on broad topics and themes, including both United States and international subjects. The series’s geographical reach is global, and in recent years volumes have covered areas as varied as North America, the United Kingdom, Argentina, China, India, South Africa, Iraq, Italy, and the Soviet Union.  Fresh approaches to the use and analysis of oral history, as well as to the organization of text, are a particular strength of the series, as is work that uses oral history to illuminate issues of human rights and social justice.
