Studies of the Americas

Series Editor: Maxine Molyneux

Titles in the Studies of the Americas Series are multi-disciplinary studies of aspects of the societies of the hemisphere, particularly in the areas of politics, economics, history, anthropology, sociology and the environment. The series aims to cover a comparative perspective across the Americas, including Canada and the Caribbean as well as Latin America and the United States. It includes edited collections, which allows an exploration of a topic from several different disciplinary angles by eminent scholars; book-length studies providing a deeper focus on a single topic; and readers on specific themes.

Maxine Molyneux is Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Latin American Studies, School of Advanced Studies, University of London. Her publications include Women's Movements in International Perspective: Latin America and Beyond (2000).
